Just Mind Your Own Business

I really hate people accusing Gil of negative things--some of which he didn`t even think about of doing so. The issue is started since he entered The Voice of Germany. One comment I`ve read said something like: "I`d rather listen to new talent than a former teen star who showed himself up in the contest just to prove again to everybody how great he is."

Hey! You don`t even know about Gil Ofarim. Or maybe now you do. But the thing is, how can you say such thing? Gil do not have to prove "again" to everybody that he is great. He simply is!

He was a teen superstar with good looks, great talent and a big heart. Gil has never forgotten to put his feet on the ground everytime. He has always been so humble. Just imagine how much he lost when he quit being a teen idol. But he didn`t regret all that. If he cared about his pride--his ego--he wouldn`t have left his image as a teen idol--his fame. Cutting his hair short and going into a rock band, he knew all along many couldn`t accept the new him and would leave him behind. But he moved on.

Gil never does a thing just merely to please everyone. No. What he does, he does it for himself and for those believe in him because he loves it. Period. It`s not his fault that many people admire him--love him. There`s nothing to prove. I think he already knew he`s great and that`s the most important thing.

Entering The Voice of Germany, it`s not really to show himself off or to regain his popularity or to catch attention. Music is his life and he loves doing it. What else was left for him to do? He has already been at the top. He`s been on big concerts, world tour and even on small gigs. Can you see the pattern? He`s doing a reverse engineering in his career. From being an international superstar to being a band vocalist/guitarist and now, a talent show candidate. He`s making things right for himself.

You cannot just accuse him of being not fair, entering the show even if he`s already been a famous singer once just to show everybody how great he is just like before. I`m telling you, I don`t think he thinks that way. Or even if he really does want to prove something, it`s for himself and not for anybody else, that regardless of what he was, his voice alone can still pass the standards of a big talent show like The Voice of Germany. And what is there to worry about for the others? If they`re also great then they can beat him. Because he has fans before that, more or less, are voting for him? Well, honestly, the past doesn`t matter. I was never his fan before--not until 2010. I was not also an avid one. But when he joined The Voice of Germany, that`s when I started to get to know him and now I`m hooked to him. So, it`s not about what he was. It`s about what he is now. And I say, he is truly a great artist--even better.

My message to those who hate him or just don`t appreciate him or his talent? Just mind your own business. I know you`re just jealous of him.  Please don`t. Gil won`t like that. He`ll be sad. But seriously? Back off, losers!

And for the rest of the world? Try to get to know Gil Ofarim and listen to his voice in every song he sings. You might end up falling for him, too. *winks*
